What Are the Greek Competency Levels All About?

Here’s a quick guide to what each level expects you to do:

What you can do: Handle simple, routine tasks: short informal interactions, everyday tasks like shopping, short personal messages. Slightly more vocabulary & grammar.

Who it is for: Learners who want to improve from beginner toward everyday confidence.

What you can do: Understand and use familiar everyday expressions. Introduce yourself, ask and answer simple questions about personal details. Needs slow, clear speech from others.

Who it is for: If you’re new to Greek or need certification for a basic task (e.g. short stay, simple communication).

What you can do: Understand main points of clear standard input on topics you know. Deal with travel, work, school in Greek. Start expressing opinions, describing experiences.

Who it is for: Those aiming for university entry, job requirements, or long-term residence.

 

What you can do: Understand a variety of texts and spoken language. Speak fluently enough for many real-life situations. Write detailed text and explain viewpoints. Grammar & vocabulary usage gets more demanding.
